Aer Arann ( since 2011 in the outer appearance and Aer Arann Regional) is an Irish regional airline based in Dublin. It operates under the brand Aer Lingus Regional for Aer Lingus.

History

Aer Arann was established in 1970 and began offering flights between Galway and the three Aran Islands. In 1994 Padraig O'Ceidigh bought the airline and began to expand the number of airports and the fleet. The airline has since its inception its route network significantly increased, especially since 1998, when the route was established between the airport Donegal and Dublin. In the same year launched Aer Arann cargo flights between Dublin and Coventry as well as flights to Britain.

The first passenger flight outside Ireland began in 2000, as a daily service from Dublin to the Isle of Man was established. In 2003, 625,000 passengers flew with Aer Arann.

In June 2004, the first flight to continental Europe started with the opening of the line between Galway via Waterford to Lorient in France. In October 2004, Aer Arann received by the European Regions Airline Association, a Bronze Medal for significant achievements. Early December 2004 it was announced that since the beginning of the year about the airport Cork 400,000 passengers were transported, representing an increase of 57 % over the previous year 2003.

In January 2010 it was announced that Aer Arann has concluded an agreement with Aer Lingus and will continue to operate from its twelve regional routes under the brand Aer Lingus Regional.

End of 2010, the financially troubled Aer Arann has been taken over by the British transport company Stobart Group. Since 2011, it also occurs under the name Aer Arann on Regional.

In March 2012 it was announced that Aer Arann future operating exclusively as Aer Lingus Regional and adjusts the flights and marketing under its own name.

Destinations

Aer Arann is currently conducting exclusively regional and feeder flights for Aer Lingus Aer Lingus Regional under the brand between destinations in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Other smaller airplanes are used in air traffic island by Aer Arann Islands.
