Aernout Mik

Aernout Mik ( born September 21, 1962 in Groningen) is a Dutch artist.

Life

Mik studied in his native city from 1983 to 1988 at the Academie Minerva (part of the Hanze Groningen). 1987/88 he was a member of the De Ateliers'63 in Haarlem. Since 2011 he has been professor of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Münster. Mik lives in Amsterdam.

Mik is an installation artist, he designed "Environments", accessible space installations, and combines this with video films.

1997 and 2007 Mik was represented in the Dutch pavilion at the Venice Biennale. In the Museum Folkwang in Essen, an overview of his work under the programmatic title " Communitas " was shown in 2011. This was in 2012 the Musée du Jeu de Paume in Paris and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
