Aero Ae-02

The Aero Ae -02 is a Czechoslovakian military aircraft from the beginning of the 1920s. It was not built in series, but has its place in aviation history as the first in Czechoslovakia designed and built fighter aircraft.

History

Development work began in 1920 and were carried out by the engineers employed by Aero Antonín Husnik and Antonín Vlasák. The plane was a single-engine biplane of wood with a firm, bandaged together by an axle suspension and rear tail skid. The tail unit was self-supporting. When driving a Hispano-Suiza 8 engine Ba served.

A year later the building was completed, and Aeros chief pilot Josef Novák launched in 1921 for its first flight. Series production of the pattern was not resolved. It served as a template for the altitude reconnaissance Ae -03 and the hunter Ae -04, but also did not go into production. Two years later, emerged from the experiences with the Ae -02 the hunting and racing aircraft A.18, which reached a top speed of 275 km / h.

Josef Novák won with the Ae -02 when held annually international speed race of Prague voted the best aerobatic pilots. He scored a second place for the achieved speed of 219 km / h
