Aero Commander

Aero Commander was an aircraft manufacturer, a subsidiary of Rockwell International.

History

The company was founded in 1944 in Culver City (CA, USA ) in order to design and manufacture a lightweight twin-engine transport aircraft: the Aero Commander 500 In 1950, the company was the Aero Design and Engineering Company in Oklahoma. In October 1960 the company was acquired by Rockwell International. She took over in the wake also airplanes, which were developed by smaller companies, and marketed it as part of the Aero Commander series. Has also been developed the twin-engine Jet Commander 1121 for which you sold the manufacturing rights to Israel Aerospace Industries ( IAI), who produced it under the name West Wind.

Ag Commander was a trade name that was used by Aero Commander for its series Agricultural aircraft. Two separate planes were marketed under that name: CallAir A-9, sold as A- Ag commander 9 and B-9, and Ayres Thrush (also known as snow S-2), sold as Ag Commander S -2. Both aircraft were originally products of smaller manufacturers that were bought by Aero Commander. The trade name Ag Commander accounted in 1970 with the dissolution of the Aero Commander range by Rockwell.
