International Airport José Martí

Aerocaribbean ( Empresa Aerocaribbean SA) is a Cuban airline based in Havana. It operates on scheduled flights at home and abroad in the Caribbean and South America. Hub is the International Airport José Martí in Havana.

History

Aerocaribbean was founded in 1982 and took on 2 December of the same year the flight operations. The airline was established to provide regional flights for Cubana. To date, Aerocaribbean is wholly owned by the Cuban government.

As of October 2013, there is a fleet of Aerocaribbean of 7 aircraft, with an average age of 21.6 years

Accidents

  • On 12 November 1992 an IL crashed 18 of Aerocaribbean at Mount Isabel de Torres, near Puerto Plata. The aircraft was en route from Santo Domingo to Havana and should be between land on the Puerto Plata airport.
  • On 4 November 2010 were killed in a crash of flight 883 with an ATR 72-212 on a domestic flight from Santiago de Cuba to Havana 68 passengers and crew members near the village of Sancti Spiritus Guasimal in the municipality in central Cuba killed.
