Aeronautical Medal

The Médaille de l' Aéronautique was founded on 14 February 1945 by the Provisional Government of the French Republic and the award of merit by the French aviation provided.

Award criteria

The award may be presented to citizens and foreigners. Similarly, a ceremony is posthumously allowed.

Military can be awarded no earlier than upon attainment of the 35 civilians at the earliest upon reaching the age of 40.

Made per year maximum 275 ceremonies. These are traditionally made ​​by the Secretary of Defense or his representative on January 1 and July 14 ( Bastille Day ).

Appearance

The medal is a rectangular, made of gilt bronze small red enamelled plate. It can be seen (Honor and Fatherland ) of the left -turned head of Marianne with the three-line signature HONNEUR ET PATRIE. The back of the medal without enamel and carries the four-line inscription medal DE L' Aéronautique in 1945 (Medal of aviation 1945).

About the medal a Hook clip is attached. This has the form of two outstretched wings and a five-pointed star centered shows.

Carrying method

Born is the award to a dark blue band on the left chest. To avoid confusion with the band of the Ordre national du Mérite, a fabricated gilt bronze clip is placed on the belt buckle. It has the shape of the Hook clip described above.
