Aetigkofen

Aetigkofen, rarely written Aetigkofen until on December 31, 2013 was a municipality in the district of Bucheggberg the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. On 1 January 2014, merged with the former municipalities Aetigkofen Aetingen, beavers, Brügglen, Gossliwil, Hessigkofen, Küttigkofen, Kyburg, mill village and Tscheppach the new community Buchegg.

Geography

Aetigkofen is located at 610 m above sea level. M., 10 km south-southwest of Canton main town of Solothurn (air line). The scattered village extends in a depression in the beginning of the Mühletals, on the Bucheggberg, in the Solothurn Plateau.

The area of ​​2.0 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the Molassehöhen of Bucheggberg. The central part of the region is the basin of Aetigkofen that gradually descends northeast to Mühletal. This high trough is surrounded by the forest heights Schoeni mountain ( 654 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation of Aetigkofen ) to the west, Usserwald (up to 645 m above sea level. M. ) in the northwest, mountain ( 653 m above sea level. M. ) in the east and Eggholz ridge (646 m above sea level. M. ) in the south. South of the mountain and Eggholz ridge of the slope drops steeply to Limpachtal, but only the uppermost portion of the forest slope belongs to the municipality. To the west of the municipality floor extends to the headwaters of the Rütibachs. From the municipality surface 1997 6 % came from settlements, 35 % of forest and woody plants and 59% to agriculture.

Population

With 171 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Aetigkofen one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Solothurn. Of the residents 97.8 % are German and 2.2 % speak French (as of 2000). The population of Aetigkofen amounted in 1850 to 189 residents in 1900 to 150 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population fluctuated in the range of 130-160 inhabitants. Since about 1990 (151 inhabitants) a slight population growth was recorded in total.

Economy

Aetigkofen was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the farming and fruit growing and cattle breeding have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including enterprises of the construction and transportation industries. Since 1975 Aetigkofen has a multi-purpose hall. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the regions of Solothurn and Bern.

Traffic

The community is located off the major thoroughfares on a link road from the mill village after Schnottwil. By Postbus course, which serves the route from the train station to wage Lüterkofen fairs, as well as by the Paratransit Bucheggberg Aetigkofen is connected to the network of public transport.

History

The territory of Aetigkofen was settled very early, which could be demonstrated by finds of Roman tracks on the mountain Schoeni and probably a Celtic settlement site on the Egg.

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1034 under the name Etikhouen, which probably means at the yards of the people of Abtad. Later, the names Eptenchen ( 1276) appeared, Eptikoven ( 1325 ) and Ettikofen ( 1461 ). The name goes back to the Old High German personal name Aptad. The suffix - igkofen he means so much as in the courts of the people of Aptad, where so-called relocated farms are meant.

In the Middle Ages Aetigkofen belonged to the rule Buchegg, which was part of the County of Burgundy country, acquired in 1391 from Solothurn and was converted to the Bailiwick Bucheggberg. Until 1798, the high court was the Bernese district court Zollikofen while Solothurn with the Aetingen of court exercised the lower courts. After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) Aetigkofen belonged during the Helvetic Republic to the district Biberist and from 1803 to the District Bucheggberg.

Attractions

In the old town and some characteristic farmhouses from the 16th to 18th centuries have been preserved. Aetigkofen does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish mill village.
