Origin and History

The Affenpinscher is one of the oldest, many preserved breeds in Germany. It was originally bred as a Rattler, for the rat and mouse hunt. Early representations, for example, by Albrecht Dürer, show a significantly similar in appearance to the known to us Affenpinscher. There was the Affenpinscher earlier in many colors and shades, from pale yellow to reddish or gray tones to blue gray and black, some with white markings.

Description

The Affenpinscher belongs to the family of the Pinscher and Schnauzer. It is the smallest representatives of this race family and differs from the other pinschers, among others by projecting his rough coat and the undershot. Its name comes from the monkey-like expression. He is 25 to 30 cm tall with a weight of 4-6 kg. The coat is rauhaarig, black with black undercoat, but also there are brown and gray shades. In contrast to other Schnauzers and Pinschers that have a scissor bite, he has an underbite. When the mouth is closed, however, the teeth should not be visible.

Nature

This companion and house dog is considered agile, fearless and adaptable. He is a loyal family dog ​​, is considered to be very playful and well tolerated by children, which ultimately shows his enormous devotion. Endurance and ease are the hallmarks of this breed. Affenpinscher tolerated is usually good with other dogs.

Breeding

Worldwide, the Affenpinscher is grown by three slightly different breed standard (FCI, KC, AKC). In Germany, the Pinscher - Schnauzer Club 1895 is recognized by the Association of the German Kennel as a race Breeders' Association, and thus, because Germany is the origin of the breed, responsible for the FCI standard of the breed.
