Afghans in Germany

As of Afghan people in Germany are called who live in Germany and originally come from Afghanistan.

History

Most of Afghanistan Ethnic fleeing the ongoing military conflicts since 1979 in their home country. Some of them have become German nationals, most of them still have the Afghan citizenship.

According to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development live in Germany around 125,000 people from Afghanistan. About 22,000 of these live in Hamburg and thus form the largest community of Afghan exiles in Europe.

Religion

The Afghan community in Germany is ethnically and religiously heterogeneous, with different political views, as they are in Afghanistan ( see also Demography of Afghanistan ). It is by and large not well organized and has no special representative associations or organizations. The Afghans in Hamburg shops, Afghan restaurants and mosques. There is an Afghan bank called " Banke Millie Afghan " in the warehouse district. The Ibrahim -Khalil Mosque is the center of the Afghan Islam in Hamburg. This mosque is to be built over 7 floors.

Religious minorities

While the Afghans traditionally belong to the Muslim faith since the 11th century, are a relatively small proportion of German - Afghan followers of Sikhism and Hinduism.
