AFM Records

AFM Records is an independent record label based in Hamburg, specializing in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Since 2010 it is part of Soulfood Music Distribution GmbH.

Company History

The company was founded on 15 April 1993 in the Hessian town of Schwalm Andreas " Henner " Allendörfer. Allendörfer was lead singer of the power metal band Squealer, who was at that time without a record contract in search of a label. Although there were interested, but Allendörfer decided to release the debut album Make Your Day on his own record label. Besides Allendörfer was Axel Fischer, guitarist of Squealer, instrumental in the establishment of the label, which is why the abbreviation " AFM" for " Allendörfer Fischer Music " is.

The first premises were located in the home Allendörfers, 1995, the first permanent employee was hired. A little later AFM Records took the power metal band Edguy under contract and published in 1998 their second album, which was until then most commercially successful release of the label. This was followed by contracts, inter alia with Tankard and UDO 2004 AFM Records had seven employees, around 20 bands under contract and released about 10 albums per year. After the company's founder, died in a traffic accident in January 2005 killed, the company was restructured and relocated the headquarters to Hamburg. Since mid-2005, Candlelight Records is the licensee for the U.S. and Latin America. The AFM Records GmbH had the beginning of 2009, around 60 bands under contract. In 2010, AFM Records and Soul Food were merged entity has since become the Soulfood Music Distribution GmbH.
