African Methodist Episcopal Church
African Methodist Episcopal Church ( AME Church as usually referred to ) is a Christian Church in the Methodist tradition, whose members are predominantly African American.
The African Methodist Episcopal Church is not affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church ( WOMBAT ) or the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (CME ) to be confused.
The church was founded in 1816 by Bishop Richard Allen in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The ordination of women is practiced in the AME.

The African Methodist Episcopal Church is a member of the World Methodist Council and the World Council of Churches.
