Afrika Islam

Afrika Islam (born Charles Glenn, born 1967) is an American DJ and producer from New York or Los Angeles, California.

Biography

Afrika Islam Afrika Bambaataa founded together with the mid-1970s the Zulu nation and was a DJ on all parties of the Zulu nation here. He was also a member of the Rock Steady Crew. Twice he was the " Annual International DJ Competition" win. He also appeared as a dancer in movies such as " Flashdance " or "Breaking 1 & 2". The mid-1980s he met in Los Angeles Ice-T know and helped the rapper with the production of his first LP Rhyme Pays, which was awarded a platinum record. This was followed by six other platinum releases. By the early 1990s, Afrika Islam producer or co-producer of all publications Ice -T's Rhyme Syndicate and was (Ice -T's Advanced Crew ). He also produced the early Everlast ( House of Pain later ), Donald D, as well as the first album by Ice -T's Body Count crossover project. Remixes for Eurythmics, Michael Jackson, De La Soul and Wu -Tang Clan followed. Popular is also his radio show Zulu beats on Power 106 FM / Los Angeles.

The early 1990s he turned away from the hip hop and began to work as house and techno DJ. In its crossover sound, he combines elements of R & B, Hip Hop and Techno & House. In 1995 he first appeared on the Mayday. 1996/97 began his collaboration with the German DJ Westbam in the project Mr. X & Mr. Y.
