It was in the aftermath of the Second Boer War, founded with the aim to collect the defeated of Britain Boer white population and to bring to power. With the election victory in 1948, the Boer party who Nasionale Party, this goal was achieved politically.

The Broederbond was always in very close relationship with the Nasionale Party (English National Party ) and other political organizations of the Boers.
