Afritzer See

The Afritzer Lake is a lake in Carinthia. It is located in Gegendtal north of Villach.

Location

The lake is located in Gegendtal in the Nock Mountains at an altitude of 752 m above sea level. A. Wöllaner between the nock and the Mirnock. It lies on the southern edge of the municipality of Feld am See, partially follows the municipal boundary to Afritz the shore line. The south-eastern shore is largely unaffected. On the northeastern shore Millstaetter Road ( B 98 ) runs.

The lake is the remnant of a once larger lake. This was divided by a rock fall: in the Afritzer and Feldsee. The two lakes are separated by a flat Talwasserscheide. The Afritzsee drained to the southeast in the direction of meeting.

The lake is fed by several small streams that have piled up especially on the south and on the west bank alluvial fan.

As the lake is located in a windy Talfurche often, it does not reach the high water temperatures other Carinthian lakes. He is still strictly stratified in summer, the surface temperatures in the summer exceed 23 ° C.

Fauna and Flora

From the Afritzer following fish species have been recorded: eel, whitefish, chub, carp, arbor, roach, tench, Pickerel, pike, perch, walleye, and catfish. Since 1980, the zebra mussel has been demonstrated in the lake.

The stocks of crayfish have fallen crayfish plague victim. Since 1992, there have been attempts to crayfish to resettle in the lake.

The Canadian Elodea has massively spread since 1976 in the lake. She has filled the entire shore belt and greatly affected the bathing. Since 1978 she has been mechanically fights ( with about Unterwassermähbooten ), their levels decreased with time. However, it must be removed at least in the bathing area on a regular basis as before.

The phytoplankton is composed differently depending on the year and season. Greater proportion of the biomass can have the following types: Burgundy blood, Anabaena spp, Microcystis aeruginosa ( cyanobacteria );. Cyclotella, Synedra acus, Asterionella formosa, Fragilaria crotonensis ( diatoms ); Uroglena, Dinobryon ( Chrysophyceae );. Hirundinella Ceratium, Gymnodinium spp, Peridinium ( dinoflagellates ); Cryptomonas ( Cryptophyceae ). Green algae such as Chlamydomonas play only a minor role.

Use

The Afritzer is used as a swimming lake. On the south shore there are two bathrooms and a beach campsite. In the 2009 season, the lake was classified as a low mesotrophic, hygiene as well. 2010, the overall situation was also assessed as very good.

The angelfischereiliche use provides 30 to 40 kg per hectare rather high yields.

Conservation area

The Afritzer in set in a conservation area. It was established in 1970 ( Law Gazette 86/1970 ) and covers 144 hectares. Beside the lake, it covers its marginal areas on the western, northern and eastern shores. The nature reserve is located in the municipalities of Feld am See Afritz.
