Afshan Azad

Afshan Azad Noor ( born February 12, 1988 in Manchester, Lancashire ) is a British actress who is known in the Harry Potter films for her role as Padma Patil.


Azad is most well known for her performances as Padma Patil in the Harry Potter films. Azad got the role, as an employee of casting agencies visited their school. Having visited several auditions, she was chosen for the role.

Personal life

Azad is from Longsight in Manchester. She is of Bengali descent. Azad and her co-star Shefali Chowdhury became good friends after the production of the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Azad is also good friends with film partners Bonnie Wright and Katie Leung, who play the roles of Ginny Weasley or Cho Chang. Azad was an AS -level student and studied chemistry, biology, English and Business Studies at Xaverian College in Rusholme.

Lawsuit due to injury

On 29 June 2010, Azad's father and brother before Manchester Magistrates' Court had to say. There they were accused of having threatened her to kill them. Afshans father and her brother, they attacked because of their relationship to a non-Muslim man (he was Hindu ). Both were released on bail. The brother of the actress were also " assault causing actual bodily harm" accused. Afshan is apparently their friends in London.
