Aftonbladet

Aftonbladet ( to German evening paper ) is a Swedish tabloid newspaper based in Stockholm.

History and orientation

Aftonbladet was founded in 1830 by Lars Johan Hierta and directed until 1851. He led by his opposition to the personal power of the king in a new era in the history of the Swedish press, where it is regarded as " the pioneer of the free press ." In the Stockholm Munkbronstraße close to the original seat of the Aftonbladet was " Swedish Press Club " erect a statue by the sculptor Christian Eriksson for Hierta. The newspaper was originally pronounced liberal and anti-monarchist table, but was always conservative in the 20th century to take a position open for Germany during the Third Reich and the Second World War. 1956 bought the Swedish Trade Union Confederation LO the newspaper, which became the mouthpiece of the Swedish Social Democrats. Since June 2009, the Norwegian media group Schibsted controlled 91 percent of the shares in the newspaper, while the remaining nine percent of the shares still owned by the Federation of Trade Unions.

In 2009, an article about organ trafficking in Israel diplomatic reactions by the Israeli government against Sweden. The author of the article failed to provide any evidence.
