Against Nature?

Against Nature? (English for: Against Nature) is an exhibition about the homosexual behavior of animals, which was shown in the museum's nature, University of Oslo, Norway. Subject of the exhibition is the appearance and the function of homosexuality among animals. This makes it the first exhibition of its kind

The exhibition includes stuffed animals of species that are known to exhibit homosexual behavior, including models and images, among other southern right whale ( Glattwalart ) and giraffes in the same-sex mating. As one of the objectives of the exhibition describes the museum " to help homosexuality to demystify the population ... We hope to the all too familiar argument that homosexuality is a crime against nature to reject. " Most of the exhibition is based on the work of Bruce Bagemihl and Joan Roughgarden.

The exhibition was initiated by the Norwegian State Center for archives, libraries and museums (ABM ) as part of their breakfast program. The program aims to museums, libraries and archives to encourage you to delve into controversial and taboo areas and issue. This exhibition was a direct response to this request, and was financially supported by the ABM.

The exhibition was shown from September 2006 to August 2007 and very well received by the normal group visits to the museum, mainly families. Several other natural history museums have expressed interest in the exhibition, and it is planned to bring the exhibition to Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands and Australia.
