Agata (potato)

The precocious potato Agata has emerged from a cross between BM 52-72 and Sirco. Since 2001 it is located in the Swiss variety list. It is waxy and less suitable for storage. Breeder is Agrico.

The tubers of this variety are short oval and quite large with pale yellow flesh and shallow eyes. Agata usually develops eight to eleven tubers per plant and one can achieve a relatively high income with this variety. It is generally used for the fresh consumption. Against blight Agata is moderately resistant, whereas it is very susceptible to leaf blight and scab. In addition, the plants may perish even in a short period of frost.
