The mystery of Agatha Christie is a British film drama from the year 1979. History interprets a true story from 1926, in which the writer Agatha Christie disappeared for 11 days.
Action
The U.S. reporter Wally Stanton travels to the book launch of Agatha Christie alibi to England. Although he is impressed by their nature, he sees how sad she is. She has to be put down for good reason. Her husband, Colonel Archibald Christie has an affair with his secretary, Nancy Neele, and requires his wedded wife the imminent divorce. But Agatha does not want it and begs him by promising him to be a better wife to him. As Archibald wants none of it, she travels from the night of 3 December 1926. On the road with her car but she has an accident. Your car will be found the next morning, each track of Agatha missing. Superintendent MacDonald takes over the investigation, said he relatively quickly assumes that she is dead. The Canadian journalist and writer Kathleen Tynan researched on the subject of the 11 missing days Agatha Christie and published her script still in August 1978 with the same title Agatha as a novel.
Criticism
The film was " no confusion " said Vincent Canby in the New York Times, only " he had not much of anything ." He was not really a thriller, not a whole love story and certainly no biography. Somehow he was still " pleasant and bearable aimlessly ". In particular, the "surprising and beautiful " Redgrave, as well as the " original comic " Hofman would convince in their roles.
