Agazzano

Agazzano is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2054 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia -Romagna. The community is located about 14 kilometers southwest of Piacenza. The Tidone limits the municipality in the north west and the Luretta in the east.

History

The name goes back to the name designation Agathianum. 218 BC, the area was the scene of the Battle of the Trebia between Hannibal and the Romans. In the 2nd century AD, the place is explicitly mentioned as pagus Lurate. The Castle of Agazzano was built in 1224.
