Agdam Mosque

The mosque in Agdam in the village Şahbulaq in Rayon Aghdam, Azerbaijan, was built in 1870 to designs by the architect Safi Khan.

Damage

During the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the victims of the massacre of Khojaly were taken to the Mosque of Agdam in 1992. At the conquest Ağdams by the Armenian armed forces on 23 July 1993 the roof and attic of the mosque were damaged and destroyed windows, doors and the marble floor. However, the mosque is one of the few buildings in the city, which are still preserved. The building is currently used for agriculture.
