Agematsu (Nagano)

Agematsu ( Japanese:上 松 町, machi ) is a town in Kiso -gun in Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu.

Geography

Agematsu located in Kisotal. The Kiso flows through the city center from north to south. In the east, the Kiso Mountains rise. The Kiso- Komagatake, the highest peak of this mountain range, located in the extreme eastern part of the administrative area of Agematsu. In the west the hills of the Adera Mountains rise. In Agematsu end of March 2010 to 168.47 km ² lived 5,419 people. Adjacent municipalities are the county-level city ( shi) and the Komagane to kamiina -gun belonging to village ( mura ) Miyada and the like Agematsu to Kiso -gun belonging municipalities Kiso- machi, Okuwa and Otaki.

History

The settlements on the territory of today's Agematsu were merged on 1 April 1889 Komagane village. With the appointment to the city on September 1, 1922 Komagane was renamed Agematsu. It was planned to have Agematsu participate in the local government reform, from November 1, 2005, the neighboring town of Kiso -machi emerged. However, the participation in this territorial reform was rejected on 26 September 2004, a referendum in Agematsu majority of the inhabitants, which Agematsu persists to this day as an independent authority.

Traffic

By the Agematsu operated by JR Central West half of the Chūō Main Line runs from Tokyo to Nagoya. The stations Agematsu and Kuramoto are Agematsu on this route. In addition, the national road leads 19 from Nagoya to Nagano by Agematsu.

Educational institutions

In Agematsu there is a primary and a secondary school, both of which are located in urban sponsorship.

Attractions

In Agematsu is Nezamenotoko, a breakthrough of the Kiso River. Next to it are the old Kiso- suspension bridge and two waterfalls in Agematsu.
