Agenore Incrocci

Agenore Incrocci ( born July 4, 1914 in Brescia, † November 15, 2005 in Rome ) was an Italian screenwriter.

Biography

Agenore Incrocci came in the early 1930s with the film business contacts. He took over the synchronization for Mario Monicelli's first film I ragazzi della Via Paal. He then worked for the radio and began to study law, but he did not graduate.

During the Second World War, he fell into German captivity. In managed to escape. After the war, he worked again for the radio and wrote articles for various magazines.

For Mario Mattoli he wrote the screenplay for I due orfanelli and learned Furio Scarpelli know in 1949. As an author team, known as the Age & Scarpelli, a long and successful collaboration developed. Both are considered as co-inventor of the Commedia all'italiana. Together they wrote over 20 screenplays for the comedian Totò. A long-standing collaboration took place with Mario Monicelli. Incrocci and Scarpelli wrote screenplays for his films or developed it together with him.

For Monicelli's film The whip in the neck 1965 he was awarded with Scarpelli and Monicelli was nominated for an Oscar for best original screenplay. A year later Incrocci was again nominated for an Oscar in this category for the film Casanova '70. His co - authors and he had to this time Frederic Raphael's screenplay for Darling to admit defeat.

1966 Age & Scarpelli wrote the screenplay for Sergio Leone Bad and the Ugly. Leone was not thrilled with the result. By his own admission he could not use of the written, because it was just vulgar and repulsive ( " I could not use a single thing they'd written. It was the grossest deception of my life" ).

Ettore Scola's For The terrace Age & Scarpelli authored with Scola the script. For this they were awarded Best Screenplay at the International Film Festival of Cannes in the category.

1999 Incrocci wrote his last screenplay for Andrea Zaccariello. In total, he wrote in his more than 50 year career over 120 screenplays.
