Aggius

Aggius is a place in the province of Olbia- Tempio in the Italian region Sardinia with 1602 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Aggius is 53 km west of Olbia and 6 km north- west of Tempio Pausania, below Monte Sozza (790 m ) and the Monte Croce ( 683 m). North of the village is called the " desert rock " of the Piano dei Grandi Sassi, also Valle de Luna ( Moon Valley ).

The neighboring municipalities are Aglientu, Bortigiadas, Tempio Pausania, Trinità d' Agultu e Vignola and Viddalba (SS). The principal activity consists in working in the granite quarries that cover the Italian needs to be 75%. Aggius has a station on the narrow gauge railway line Sassari - Palau, which is served in the summer months from Trenino Verde.
