Aggregate (rocket family)

Unit 1 ( A1 for short ) was the name of one developed by Wernher von Braun in 1933 test rocket with a length of 1.40 meters, a diameter of 0.3 meters and a launch weight of 150 kilograms. The initial thrust of the alcohol and liquid oxygen (LOX ) -powered engine was 2.94 kN (300 kgf ). The fuel was funded by compressed nitrogen gas.

The stabilization in flight should not be contrary to the suggestions by Walter Dornberger twist, but by a gyroscopic stabilization in the top, because the liquid fuel in the tank of a rotating rocket would behave unfavorable.

The A1 exploded during a launch attempt in sorrow village. It was made no further attempt to start, since it was found that the A1 was top-heavy due to the unfavorable position of the gyro stabilization and would not fly stable.

Instead, the succession rocket unit 2 is designed, the rotary head was located at the center of the missile.
