Agios Minas (Greek Αγίος Μηνάς ) is since 2010 a district on the Greek island of Chios with its administrative seat Thymiana. The church of Agios Minas, founded in 1989 was named after the monastery ( Μονή Αγίος Μηνάς ). With the administrative reform in 2010 on 1 January 2011 the municipalities of the Island were merged to the municipality Chios. Agios Minas since then has been one of eight municipal districts.

Location

The municipality is located in the east of the island, south of the town of Chios, and takes the southern part of the agrarian Kambos level and the adjoining hill country. Neighboring districts are Kambochora municipality in the west and in the south of Ionia. To the east, beyond the Straits of Chios ( Steno tis Chiou Στενό της Χίου; Steno also tis Erythreas Στενό της Ερυθραίας ) Asia Minor peninsula is Erythrea ( Χερσόνησο της Ερυθραίας ) with the City of Çeşme. The shortest distance is less than 7 km.

Administrative divisions

The municipality is divided into two municipalities with some smaller settlements. The population figures are from the census of 2011.
