Agios Vasileios (Greek Άγιος Βασίλειος ) is a municipality ( Δήμος, Dimos ) in the regional district of Rethymnon on the Greek Mediterranean island of Crete. The island forms one of the 13 regions of Greece. The name of the village goes back to the village of Agios Vasilios in the municipality, whose name in turn, refers to Basil of Caesarea, one of the three holy hierarchs of the Orthodox Church.

The municipality of Agios Vasilios was formed by the merger of the municipalities and municipal districts present Lambi and Finikas due to the Kallikratis Act of 2010. According to the census of 2001, lived at this time a total of 8648 inhabitants in the municipality constantly. Administrative headquarters are Spili. Until 1997, formed Lambi and Finikas before an administrative unit under the name of Agios Vasilios called eparchy ( Province '), which is about equivalent to a county.
