Agnes Alpers

Agnes Alpers ( born June 29, 1961 in Oerel ) is a qualified educator, politician (The Left ) and member of the Bundestag.

Biography

Education and work

Alpers studied from 1980 Education at the University of Berlin and graduated in 1986 with a diploma. Afterwards she worked in the children's and youth work.

She is the founder of a school club and led the first children's samba group in Bremen.

She is married and has two children.

After a speech in the Bundestag on June 28, 2013 Alpers collapsed and had to be revived on the spot. A stroke due to a ruptured aneurysm was diagnosed and placed in an artificial coma Alpers. The end of July it was recycled from the artificial coma. In September 2013, it was transferred to a hospital in Bremen and is currently in medical rehabilitation.

Policy

Agnes Alpers was a member of the " Socialist Unity Party of West Berlin ", a closely connected with the SED and the DKP and guided by the SED Communist Party in West Berlin.

Since October 2007, Alpers sat for the group of The Left in the Municipal deputation of Education of the Bremen City Parliament.

In September 2009, she has been elected through Bremer Landesbank list as a member of the German Bundestag. There she is a regular member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment. Despite their stroke Alpers remained No. 1 on the Bremer Landesbank list and was elected in the general election in 2013 the Bundestag.

Positions

Alpers supports a cross-party bill ( 17/11430 ), the group of about 50 members of parliament brought on 8 November 2012. This looks to prescribe in terms of religiously motivated circumcision of underage boys that circumcision may be made only from the age of religious maturity (14 years).

Alpers calls to end the war in Afghanistan.
