Agnes of Dampierre

Agnes of Dampierre or Agnes of Bourbon ( probably * 1237, † September 7, 1288 ) was from 1249 mistress of bourbon. She was the younger daughter of Archambault IX. , Lord of Bourbon and Yolande of Châtillon, Countess of Nevers, Auxerre and Tonnerre.

Her father married her and her sister Mathilde in February 1242 with members of the older house Burgundy before in August of the same year with King Louis IX it. set out on the Sixth Crusade. Her sister's husband was Odo, Erbherzog of Burgundy, whose younger brother of her John, Count of Charolais.

Her father died in 1249 in Cyprus and Agnes and John inherited the rule of Bourbon ( even if John had previously get appointed to govern in the year apparently ). Mathilde, however, had to wait until 1257 before her great-grandmother Matilda of Courtenay left her the counties of Nevers, Auxerre and Tonnerre. John of Burgundy died on September 29 in 1268.

John and Agnes had a daughter, Beatrix ( Beatrice ) (* probably in 1257; † October 1, 1310 ), which in turn married Robert in 1272 in the summer, since 1269, Count of Clermont -en- Beauvaisis, and from the wedding Lord of Bourbon. Robert and Beatrix are the ancestors of the Bourbons.

Nine years after John's death, in 1277, Agnes married his second wife Robert II, Count of Artois. This marriage remained childless.
