Agnes van Ardenne

Anna Maria Agnes ( Agnes ) van Ardenne -van der Hoeven ( born January 21, 1950 in Maasland ) is a Dutch politician. She was the Dutch Minister of Economic Cooperation in the second and third cabinet of Jan Peter Balkenende.

From 1988 to 1994 van Ardenne was a member of the municipal council of Vlaardingen for the CDA. From 1990, she served in the municipality as a municipal council for economic affairs. Within the CDA van Ardenne was between 1986 and 1996 Member of the Commission for Foreign Affairs from 1990 to 1994 at the advisory committee for peace and security issues.

From 1994 to 2002 van Ardenne was a member of the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament. She was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the North Atlantic Assembly of NATO.

Van Ardenne was, among others, Vice President of the Agency for International Development CEBEMO ( merged into CORDAID ) and co-founder of the Center for Economic Co-operation in Vlaardingen. She was also Chairman of the EPP / EUCD Women's Group and Secretary General of UNICEF Netherlands.

On July 22, 2002, van Ardenne -van der Hoeven, State Secretary at the Ministry for Economic Cooperation in the first Balkenende government. On 27 May 2003 to 22 February 2007, she was Minister without Portfolio with responsibility for Economic Cooperation in the second and third Balkenende.
