Agosta is a municipality in the province of Rome in the Italian region Latium, located about 1757 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Agosta is located 63 km northeast of Rome and 11 km northwest of Subiaco. It is located on a hill in the valley of Aniene. It is a member of the Comunità Montana Valle Aniene, which has its headquarters in the district of Madonna della Pace. Other districts are Barco, Cacino, Pisciarello, Selve, Valle Berta and Tostini. The municipal area extends 327-786 m slm

The municipality is located in the seismic zone 2 (medium endangered).

The nearby towns are Canterano, Cervara di Roma, Marano Equo, Rocca Canterano and Subiaco

Coat of arms

Top third of the shield, red Benedictine cross on golden background. Lower two-thirds, an aqueduct on a blue background. The cross reminds us of the historical affiliation with the Benedictine Subiaco. The aqueduct Aqua Marcia symbolizes the beginning at Agosta.
