The city Agrolândia had two distinct phases of colonization. In 1911, two brothers came from the city of Lages ( Ricardo Domingos Alves and Paes ). They started with deforestation and the planting of corn and beans. It is of some conflicts with Native Americans who lived in the area, reported. In 1913 the family Paes Alves moved their permanent residence after Agrolândia.

In 1917, more families came residing in the city, which was then Trombudo Alto (big trunk ) called. This probably because the river has numerous curves and therefore resembles a proboscis. These pioneers were: John Will, Eduardo Will, Otto Zwick, Otto Prochnow and Prochnow Leopoldo.

In 1958 Trombudo Alto became a district of central Trombudo, and on 12 June 1962, the city was founded, which then received the name Agrolândia by Act No. 831. The implementation of this name change is celebrated with the birthday on 25 July of each year as a city holiday.
