Águas de Portugal

Águas de Portugal ( AdP ) is the state water company in Portugal, consisting of a group of various Portuguese service company (number: 43 in 2010), which are active for more than 7 million Portuguese in the three areas of Sanitation:

  • Water supply
  • Sewerage
  • Water treatment and recycling of solid waste

The merger of the company took place in 1993. 2008 AdP recorded a turnover of 614.8 million euros. Águas de Portugal in Portugal is a public company in the environmental sector. The head office is located in Lisbon.

The Group operates through its subsidiaries, in the international market with the offered services and technical assistance in Mozambique, East Timor, Angola and South Africa.

AdP controls the EPAL - Empresa de Aguas Livres Portuguesa, the largest company in the water sector in Portugal, which operates the supply in the municipalities of Lisbon and the surrounding counties.

Political influences

From 1996 to 2002, the company was led by Mário Lino. 2004 Amilcar had Theias as environment ministers from the cabinet Durão Barroso resign under pressure from the Prime Minister, since the post occupation on the board of the company he turned against him.
