Aguelhok

Adjelhoc (also Aguelhok ) is a municipality in the district Tessalit in the Kidal region of Mali.

The place is located in the Sahara near the Algerian border (134 km distance) in Timiaouine and has 8,080 inhabitants Its inhabitants are primarily the people of the Tuareg.

History

End of January 2012 Adjelhoc was occupied by the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad ( MNLA ). The attackers killed several dozen government soldiers. Overall, the death toll is said to be 80 to 100, including civilians. As a result, there were protests, including in Bamako, and pogroms against members of the Tuareg.
