Nose whip snake ( Ahaetulla nasuta )

The nose whip snake ( Ahaetulla nasuta ) is a slender, green tree snake belonging to the family of snakes. She lives in the moist areas of India and Southeast Asia.

Features

Like all Coachwhips has the nose Coachwhip a slender physique and typical of this genus horizontally oval pupils. The head is tapered at the end of which the eponymous appendage is formed by the rostral scale. The fangs of the snake deceit are in the back part of the jaw, so they are opistoglyph.

The eyes are very large. Between the large Supraokularen is the narrow end plate ( frontal ).

Way of life

To their food mostly include frogs and lizards. Even birds such as the Bajaweber ( Ploceus philippinus ) are captured.

They usually moves very slowly and relies on their leaf green camouflage. If the nasal whip snake is disturbed, it stretches her body, showing off her black and white markings and threatens the troublemaker with open mouth ( see figure at right ). The viviparous snakes bring 5-15 boy on the world.

Nose whip snakes are mildly toxic and a bite caused swelling. The symptoms can but usually after three days.

In southern India the widespread legend exists that it blinds the human victims with its pointed head.
