Ahaxe-Alciette-Bascassan

Ahaxe - Alciette - Bascassan (Basque Ahatsa Altzieta Bazkazane ) is a commune with 286 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Pyrénées- Atlantiques in the Aquitaine region. It belongs to the district of Bayonne and the canton of Saint -Jean -Pied -de-Port.

The municipality is part of the Pays de Cize in Lower Navarre. Districts are: Ahaxachilo, Ahaxamendy, Ahaxe, Alciette, Bascassan, Bastida, Dorrea, Garatehegi, Gastelua, Idioinea and Kapila. Neighboring municipalities are: Bussunarits - Sarrasquette in the north, Saint -Jean -le- Vieux in the northwest, Aincille in the west, and Estérençuby Lecumberry in the south.

History

Ahaxe, Alciette and Bascassan were merged on 11 June 1842 a community.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms is quartered. The first and fourth field is in blue, with three ( 2/1) silver scallops, and gold, with three red columns, split. The second field in red showing three silver shells, which are surrounded by a silver spine board. In the third box, two red separated by a spike right oblique beams shells are shown.
