Ahimaaz ben Paltiel

Achimaats ben Paltiel (Hebrew אחימעץ בן פלטיאל, * 1017 in Capua, † 1060 in Oria ) was a Jewish liturgical poet and author of a historically valuable family chronicle.

Achimaats was the scion of a great family of scholars and wrote in the Megillat Achimaats ( " Scroll of Achimaats " ) in rhymed prose his family history from the 9th century. down.

As his ancestors frequently participated in leading position on the Jewish community life, the small, but interspersed with legends font is also available as early chronicle of Jewish life in the Middle Ages of importance, particularly as regards the relations between the Jewish communities of southern Italy to Palestine.
