Ahlefeld - Bistensee is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

History

Known as the place Ahlefeld is the same noble family. This played a major role in the history of Schleswig-Holstein. The Good Friedrichshof, which was the headquarters of Ahlefeld family, was demolished in 1953 after a fire.

Bistensee was first mentioned in 1142 and in 1542 appeared on the Gottorp official register. The place name is probably derived from the word rushes.

On 1 March 2008 the formerly independent communities Ahlefeld and Bistensee merged to community Ahlefeld - Bistensee.
