History
Place name
Former place names of Ahlerstedt were in the years 1102 Alerstede, in 1230 and 1420 Alerstede Alerstede. The basic word of this place name is undoubtedly - stedt to accept. The modifier could either go back to the Middle Low German alre, ELRE for alder, which could lead to a basic form Alre - stet ( d) ti. German alder, Low German also Eller, Middle High German alder, Old High German erila, ELIRA, Middle Low German ELRE, but also Middle Low German alre for all. You may also see an old first name is based, perhaps Alaher.
History
Ahlerstedt 1095 was the first time mentioned. The first church building dates from 1656. A new building was completed in 1865. The most important source of income has been and continues to be agriculture, but there are craft enterprises.
Incorporations
On 1 July 1972, the municipalities Ahrensmoor, Ahrenswohlde, Bokel, Kakerbeck, Oersdorf, Ottendorf and Wangersen were incorporated Ahlerstedt is part of the integrated municipality Harsefeld.

Mayor
Mayor is Uwe Arndt from the Free Voters Community. He comes from the village of Ottendorf and currently lives in the suburb Oersdorf.

Blazon: The coat of arms of the municipality Ahlerstedt shows a wave by a silver bar divided diagonally from the lower left to the upper right shield. The blue field is to the left above a silver prehistoric earth house and in the red box at the bottom right is a silver Erdbackofen, who in his opening shows eight silver flames. Meaning: The prehistoric earth house shown on the coat of arms was excavated in the district Kakerbeck and typical for the region Erdbackofen in the district Ahlerstedt. The silver flames in the oven opening to the eight districts of the municipality symbolize.
