The Ahlsburg, also called Alerdestein, Mahlsburg, Wahlburg, in Eckertal close Ilse castle in Saxony-Anhalt Harz is the ruin of a kingdom and hilltop castle in the Harz mountain range.

Geographical location

The site of the former Ahlsburg is located in the northern foothills of the resin and in the north of the Harz National Park, about 4 km west of Ilse castle, 4.5 km south-southwest of Stapelburg and 4 km (each air line ) north- northeast of the Eckertalsperre. Owned by the city of Ilsenburg it is above the right or eastern bank of the Ecker, a national border to the west adjacent Lower Saxony forming southeastern tributary of the Oker. History
