Ahmad Fathi Sorour

Ahmed Fathi Sorour (Arabic أحمد فتحي سرور, DMG Ahmad Fathi Surur, born July 9, 1932) was from 1990 until the Egyptian Revolution 11 February 2011 President of the National Assembly ( Majlis al- مجلس الشعب damage ʿ b ), of the House of of the Egyptian Parliament.

After studying law in Cairo, Egypt, Michigan, USA, he received his doctorate from the University of Cairo to the Dr. jur., There is a professor of the Faculty of Law since 1959 and was its dean from 1983 to 1985 than before.

Sorour is married and has three children.

Political career

The member of the Politburo of the damaks ruling National Democratic Party of Egypt (NDP ) was inter alia diplomatically active as a cultural attaché at the Egyptian Embassy in Switzerland (1964 ) and France ( 1965-1970 ) and permanent delegate of the Arab League at UNESCO ( 1972-1978 ).

While Sorours parliamentary career was the focus of his activities in the field of education as well as the fundamental and human rights. He was a member of the Egyptian Constitution Committee ( 1971), President of the International Conference on Human Rights in Islamic Law (1979 ), Education Minister of his country (1986-1990) and is since 1991 President of the Egyptian Society for Social and Cultural Development.

In 1993 he was elevated to the rank of Grand Officier of the Ordre de la Pléiade the International Assembly of Parliamentarians French. 1994 to 1997 he was chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, he became president of the Euro -Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly in 2005.
