Ahmed Arifi Pasha

Aarifi Pasha (* 1830 in Constantine Opel, † 1895) was a Turkish politician.

Aarifi Pasha, son of diplomats Shekib Pasha, accompanied his father in 1847 on a mission to Rome, thence to Vienna and then got a job in the Foreign Ministry. Later, he was First Secretary of the Turkish Embassy in Vienna and Paris. His language skills earned him the appointment as the first interpreters of the divan.

In 1872 he was appointed Under-Secretary in the Foreign Ministry, on the President of the Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation, 1873 as ambassador to Vienna, 1874 to the Minister of education and the judiciary. With the introduction of a constitutional government, he received the presidency of the Senate, then the Foreign Ministry. After Khereddin Pasha entrusted him overthrow the Sultan on 30 July 1879 the leadership of the Ministry as Prime Minister, but he merely held until October. Since then, a member of the Senate, he was the December 1882-1884 again Minister of Foreign Affairs.
