Ahmed Faras

Ahmed Faras (* 1946 in Fedala (now Mohammedia ) ) is a former Moroccan football player. The left foot is considered one of the best center forward in his country of all time. He spent his entire career with the Moroccan football club Chabab Mohammédia.

With the Moroccan national team, he participated in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. In Group D, he met with his team to the national teams of the Federal Republic of Germany, Peru and Bulgaria. After a narrow defeat (1-2) against Germany, a 0-3 against Peru and a final draw (1-1) against the Bulgarians, the team adopted a bottom of their group from the tournament.

Two years later Faras participated in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich as a member of the national team.

Four years later, his biggest success he achieved as a national player, as he and his team secured the 1976 African Cup in the final against Guinea. In the same year he was elected to the African Footballer of the year.
