Ahmed II.

Ahmed II (* 1642 or 1643; † February 6, 1695 in Edirne ) was from 1691 to 1695 Sultan of the Ottoman Empire.

Ahmed was a son of Sultan Ibrahim and succeeded his brother Suleiman II on the throne. Its main merit was to confirm Koprulu Fazil Mustafa as Grand Vizier. But a few weeks after his accession to the throne suffered the Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Slankamen a defeat by the Habsburgs under Prince Louis of Baden. Nevertheless, an approximate balance of power in Hungary turned out in the subsequent period. Ahmed died in 1695, exhausted by illness and grief.
