Ahmed Makarfi

Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi ( born August 8, 1956 in Makarfi, Nigeria ) is since 29 May 1999 governor of the Nigerian state of Kaduna.

Life

Ahmed Makarfi was born in Makarfi in Kaduna State and attended the primary school in 1965 until 1973. Subsequently he attended until 1978, the Federal Government College in Enugu. From 1979, he studied accounting at the School of Basic Studies at the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria. From 1985 to 1987 Makarfi was a lecturer of Business Administration in Zaria, at the same time he graduated as a Master of Science degree in accounting and finance.

Makarfi became Deputy Director General of the Nigeria Universal Bank, and was occasionally commissioned by the Executive Council of the Kaduna State from 2004 with the leadership of the Committee on Economic and financial planning. At the same time he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Abuja. 1999 Ahmed Makarfi as a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP ) was elected governor of Kaduna; In 2003 he was re-elected in this function. As in eleven other northern Nigerian states of the Shari'a was introduced in Kaduna in 2000, their application in Kaduna but is considered to be relatively moderate.

Ahmed Makarfi aimed at originally to run as the candidate of the PDP in the presidential elections in April 2007.
