Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah

Ahmedou Ould -Abdallah (Arabic: أحمدو ولد عبد الله ) ( born November 21, 1940) is a Mauritanian diplomat and former Senior United Nations Official. He is director of the United Nations Political Office for Somalia.

Ould -Abdallah studied economics at the University of Grenoble and the University of Paris, and political science at the Sorbonne. Between 1971 and 1985, he held several state offices in Mauritania. Among other things, he was Minister of Foreign and development policy. He also served as his country's ambassador in the United States and the European Union.

In 2006 he was sent by the then United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Annan, on a mission to Sudan.
