Ahmet Muhtar Merter
Ahmet Muhtar Merter (* in Istanbul; ? † 1959 ) was a Turkish resistance fighters during the Turkish War of Independence. The district Merter in Istanbul has been named after him. Merter in 1957, 1958 and 1959, the Aga ( patron ) of the Turkish national sport of oil wrestling. Muhtar Merters picture now hangs in the museum section of the Anıtkabirs. In his honor, was an elementary and middle school named in Istanbul.

Ahmet Muhtar Merter was the brother Tevfik Pasha Sağlam. The psychiatrist Nesip Mustafa Merter is his grandson and the Turkish actress Selma Merter is his great-granddaughter.
