Aholfing lies in the Donau -Wald.

The municipality has five officially named districts:
- Aholfing
- Landstorf
- Niedermotzing
- Obermotzing
- Puchhof
There are the districts Aholfing, Niedermotzing and Obermotzing.
History
The 1132 first -mentioned place name Aholvingin (also Aholuingin ) is derived from the personal name Aholf and the Eigentumssuffix - ing. Since about 1298 the spelling Aholfing is known. Aholfing belonged to the accounts office and court Straubing of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1975, the formerly independent communities Niedermotzing and Obermotzing were incorporated.
