Ahren Spylo

Ahren Nittel Spylo (December 6, 1983 in Waterloo, Ontario ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player ( striker ), who has a contract with EHC Biel of the Swiss National League A since 2010. His brother Adam Spylo was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Spylo played from the 2000/ 01 season until mid-season 2002/ 03 at the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL and then moved within the league to the Oshawa Generals. The Windsor Spitfires he brought it in 136 games ( including 16 playoff games) on 37 goals and 21 assists ( total 58 points scorer ), with the Oshawa Generals came in 33 games (including 13 playoff games) again 20 goals and added 9 assists (29 points scorer ). He was selected Devils NHL Entry Draft in 2002 in the third round to 85th by the New Jersey.

In the 2003 / 04 season, played 42 games Spylo in the AHL with the Albany River Rats and brought it to seven points scorer (4 goals, 3 assists ), and two games in the UHL with the Adirondack IceHawks. The next two seasons ran Ahren Spylo again for the Albany River Rats on ( AHL, 95 games: 39 goals, 22 assists = 61 points scorer ) and then moved 06/ 07 for his first European station to Davos in Switzerland (17 games, 2 goals ). He changed twice in the National League A for the SCL Tigers and shortly thereafter became the HC Fribourg- Gottéron. Middle of the 2006/07 season was the striker for his first DEL station, the Hamburg Freezers, by Germany. At first he was fetched only for a trial period of five days, but he was able to convince, and was committed to the end of the season. For the 2007/08 season he signed a year contract with the Sinupret Ice Tigers, where he has already convinced in preparation whether his dominating play. Nuremberg coach Benoit Laporte designated Spylo after the preseason game against the HC Slavia Prague ( Full 4:3, Spylo achieved the remarkable goal for 3:1) as " perhaps the most talented player in the league ." In September, he was elected by the journal Hockey News Player of the Month.

Since April 2010 Ahren Spylo playing back in Switzerland when EHC Biel. In his first season in Biel, he was top scorer of his team. Even in his second season in Biel Spylo belonged to the best scorer ( 19 goals, 15 assists). In October 2012, the Spylo cruciate ligament tear in a game against his former employer Davos and fell the rest of the season.

  • Spylo has both the German, as well as Canadian citizenship because his mother is German and his father Canadians.
  • His older brother Adam Spylo played in the DEL, among others, also at the Nuremberg Ice Tigers.
  • When DEL Allstar Game 2008 in Dresden, he crashed in the Skills Competition spectacular in North America and the team pulled a laceration to the eye, which is why he could not participate in the game.
