The ships of the type KMAR 808 are Swedish anchor handling tug (AHT ) and icebreakers. The option to use the ships as an icebreaker, this stands out from other anchor handling tugs.

History

The ships were in the years 2000 and 2001 on the Norwegian shipyard Havyard Leirvik AS Trans Viking Icebreaking for the company & Offshore AS (now Viking Icebreaker and Offshore AS ) built. You will bereedert of Viking Supply Ships AB.

The ships are in the first quarter of the year the Swedish Maritime Administration ( Sjöfartsverket ) as an icebreaker in the Baltic Sea are available. The ships that are otherwise also used mainly as an anchor handling tug in the North Sea, but the world must do so in can be installed within ten days in the Baltic Sea. A contract runs until 2015 and may be renewed for another 15 years.

Technology

The ships of the series are driven by a total of four MaK diesel engines, which act on two controllable pitch propellers. Furthermore, the ships are equipped with two transverse beam control systems, one in front and one at the rear of the ship. In the bow, is also located a rudder propeller.

The open deck area behind the arranged in the front part of the ships deck house has 603 m² ( 40.2 m × 15 m). They can be loaded with a total of 1350 tons, and the maximum load deck 5 t / m and 10 t / m is behind the bulkhead 23. The bollard pull of the vessels is around 200 tons.

The ships can be equipped as necessary with a demountable helicopter platform. This can be for a 24 - hour operation of ships, such as when used as icebreakers necessary.
